IN THE ROUND
A full length evening first conceived to infuse a traditional performance venue with the interactive nature of the public installation. Now conceived for traditional and alternative spaces, the piece is a never-ending sculpture court where its meditative beauty slowly implodes with expressive movement from within.
Comprised of 3 sections - TIMESTAMPed, #4, and STAMPedTIME. All can be performed independently and are available for touring email@example.com
Either in silence or scored to a robotic, objectively descriptive text about bodies, the meditative sculpture court is disrupted by bursts of movement either along a path or on a spot, with performers dynamically returning to stillness once they're done.
This "timestamp" acts as a vapor to transform the space. Latsky moves through the sculptures with countered precision in a solo that remits how feelings of fear and empowerment alternate when one is being stared at.
The sister piece and mirror opposite to the first installation, now set to a luscious score by long-time collaborator Chris Brierley and rap by disabled artists 4 Wheel City and additional music by Daniel Roumain. Once statues with only intermittent bursts of movement, the performers now leap and bound across the stage becoming real people in the process.
A Dynamic Portfolio of Works
ON DISPLAY is a deconstructed art exhibit/fashion show and commentary on the body as spectacle and society's obsession with body image. It turns a cast of diverse and extreme bodies into a sculpture court where the performers are the sculptures. ON DISPLAY began as a simple human sculpture court and is now a movement, a growing portfolio of works that explore and demonstrate inclusion through art.
